Short version: no accounts, no database, and your timelines stay on your device.

What is stored in your browser

TimelineForge saves your work with your browser's localStorage, on your device only:

  • your timelines (titles, events, dates, notes, colours) and which one you had open;
  • your answers in the wedding timeline planner;
  • your most recent AI-generated timeline and its topic.

We never receive this data. It isn't synced between devices, and clearing your browser data removes it. Export JSON files if you want a backup.

The AI timeline generator

When you press Generate timeline, the topic you typed (and the key date, if given) is sent to our server and on to an AI model via Vercel AI Gateway to produce the events. We don't store the topic or the result on our servers; your IP address is held briefly in memory only to enforce a fair-use limit. Please don't type personal or confidential information into the topic box.

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless and doesn't collect personal data or track you across sites.

Exports and share links

PNG, SVG, PDF, PowerPoint, CSV and JSON files are generated entirely in your browser and downloaded straight to your device. "Copy as image" puts the picture on your clipboard without uploading it.

"Copy share link" packs the timeline itself into the link, after the #. Browsers don't send that part to any server, so we never see it — but anyone you give the link to can read and copy the timeline, so share it only with people who should see it.
